Information on Chan's Martial Arts Oregon branch taught by Graeme Humphrey.
The Oregon branch is situated in Albany, Oregon close to the I5 freeway. New students are able to join at any time. We welcome good people wanting to learn good skills. The only requirements are that you willing to spend a moderate but consistant amount of time to training, don't use the skills taught here unless absolutely necessary in a self defense situation.
Graeme Humphrey has over 25 years experience in Martial arts that started with training in Karate in the mid-eighties. He was introduced to Chan's Martial Arts in June of 1991, when a friend convinced in to come to one of Master Chan's classes. Since that class he has never stopped attending as many of Master Chan's classes as possible. He believes that this is where he was introduced to "real" martial arts where training is the continual pursuit of up-skilling, up-grading, and refining; rather than solely "training" hard, faster, and doing the same thing over again with some hope something would change.
Another realization Graeme came to through the guidance of Master Chan is that to get better, you also need to help others achieve. Graeme began assisting Mr. Brent Drake instruct at the Bishopdale branch in the mid 1990s, and subsequently was an assistant instructor at the Ilam branch under Mr. Clinton Rains. Then after his first Black Belt grading in 1997, Master Chan let Graeme take over the reins and he ran the Papanui branch of Chan's Martial Arts. After doing this for a few years Graeme wanted to open a school in the community he lived and opened the Hornby branch.
In 2006 Graeme was offered a position in a technology company in Corvallis Oregon that was too good to refuse and his family moved here from New Zealand. The Humphrey family quickly began to love the mid-valley area and the people in it. Now he then wanted to offer the people here the same opportunity to learn Master Chan's Shao Chi Chuan style of Kung Fu as he had been given and opened the Oregon branch.
